In order to improve the availability of diesel locos for traffic, Central Railway has put 57 WDG-3A/ WDM-3D locos on 40-day schedule, in terms of RDSO report No. MP MISC – (REV 00) June 2009. All these locos are fitted with microprocessor based control system, traction motor roller suspension bearing and pure air brake system. gallery at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (VT) building, a UNESCO
recognized World Heritage Site. Gallery was inaugurated by Shri B B
Modgil, General Manager Central Railway on 29.01.10 and inspected by
Shri Praveen Kumar, Member Mechanical on 26.02.10
Need for a heritage gallery in the UNESCO recognized world heritage
site of CST building (VT) at Mumbai was being felt for a long time.
Mechanical department of Central Railway under the leadership of Shri
B B Modgil, General Manager took the lead in setting up a grand
heritage gallery at CSTM building. Details and photographs are

A new website of Rail Coach Factory, Rae Bareilly has been launched. Further, its project organisation has putup a Request for Proposal (RFP) for providing consultancy services for drafting Bid Documents for the invitation of bids for EPC, BOT and Procurement-cum-ToT Agreements required for setting up a Departmental Production Unit for Manufacturing Coaches at Rae Bareli, (U.P.),India . The Consultant will also be required to prepare “Detailed Project Report” and Detailed Estimate of Costs for setting up the Production Unit, Assessment of manpower to operate factory after commissioning and assist in bid process management.

This shed had initially started with a holding of 20 locos in 1984, and it present has a holding of 57 locos. It mainly caters to Mail/Exp requirements of NF Rly.
