Xth National Steam Congress
The Indian Steam Railway Society has organised the Xth National Steam Congress on the 24th of February,2013 at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi. This is an annual event organised by the Society.
Shri Keshav Chandra, Member Mechanical, Railway Board was the Chief Guest on this occasion and tourism icon Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO & MD of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor was Guest of Honour. Shri Ashwani Lohani founder member & working President of Steam Society welcomed the Guests. The Congress was attended by many eminent dignitaries of Delhi, Senior Officers from Railway, PSU & Private Companies.
Mr. Cedric C Lodge Steam locomotive expert and steam enthusiast from UK delivered the Keynote address. Mr. David Barrie, Co-Chairman of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society (UK), Sir Mark Tully & renowned writer Mr. Bill Aitken also addressed the gathering.
Shri Subhas Goyal, President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators has explained the potential of “Steam Heritage Tourism” in India and shown the ways to tap this niche segment of tourism.
Shri L.K.Sinha, Retd.Member Mechanical and the president of Steam Society explained how this moving power house on rail was destroyed to meet Indian railways scrap target.
The recently concluded Xth Steam Congress successfully fulfilled its objective of promoting Steam Heritage Tourism in India. The Indian Steam Railway Society will organize film show and talk on steam locomotive in the month of May, 2013.

Shri Keshav Chandra, MM visited Jhansi Workshop on 26.5.2012 . He flagged off the first BOXNHAM rake made on Indian Railways at Jhansi Workshop.The wagons are fit to run at upto 100kmph empty and 75kmph loaded.
He also inspected the ongoing Modernization works at Jhansi Workshop and also construction of New Coach MLR Workshop at Jhansi. Both the projects are being executed by Mechanical Department NCR on turnkey basis.

A valedictory function was held at the IRIMEE auditorium on June 16, 2011 to mark the passing out of IES 2008 Batch of IRSME probationers. On their
induction in to the Railways after the UPSC exams, the batch had initially
reported to IRIMEE in the last month the year 2009.
The IES 2K8 Batch of IRSME comprises of a total of 17 members. While 14 of
these would be reporting to the GMs/CMEs of their allotted zones in the
coming days, another three who joined late would pass out after a gap of
three months.
A group photograph of the batch members with IRIMEE faculty is attached.
IRIMEE & its faculty wishes the the batch members all the success and the
very best on the coming phase of working posts in their career on Railways.
